Aussie beats down brave Akdeniz in world title sharpener

EUROPEAN kickboxing's man of the moment
Lhoucine 'Aussie' Ouzgni sent out a warning sign ahead of his crack at the It's Showtime world super middleweight
title with a fourth round stoppage of enormously game Henry Akdeniz.
Ouzgni challenges Cosmo Alexandre for the
prestigious belt on December 18 in Amsterdam and having halted Nieky Holzken in less than a minute in his previous fight made
his intentions clear once more by dominating Lucien Carbin-trained Akdeniz.
Fighting on his home show promoted
by Top Team Beverwijk in North Holland, gangling knockout artist Ouzgni went for the finish from the opening bell and almost
took out Akdeniz three times in the first round with his devastating long right hand.
Akdeniz used all of his experience
and fitness to weather the storm and landed a hard right of his own as he gave it all he had in the second,
but took another heavy shot and a knee flush to the chin as Ouzgni kept the pressure on.
Ouzgni slowed down a touch
in the third and began to put maximum power on his inside and outside low kicks.
Yet despite suffering
visible damage, an almost unbelievably resilient Akdeniz refused to go down and continued to empty his tank as he soldiered
on and traded.
The end arrived in the fourth however as Ouzgni stopped hunting Akdeniz's iron head and
switched his attacks to the body.
Akdeniz received two eight counts after being blasted to the ribs and there
was still no quit in him as he managed to get up after being counted a third time, but referee Rick Cocu saved the Fighting
Factory Continental man from further punishment.
